Teaching Methodology

NSB teaching methodology realizes its challenge to create an effective mix between theory and practice. Conceptually, most learning systems emphasize that, while some learners learn by passive, reflective listening, many others learnt by actively “doing”. Our teaching is a balance between the delivery of information, or the demonstration of a procedure, and opportunities for students to apply that information in hands-on practice, exercise, case-studies, role plays etc.

We deliberate on a host of teaching methodologies such as:

Lectures and Discussion

Lectures are designed not to be merely pedantic. They encourage the students to think and undertake further reading. The lectures are aided by audio-visual materials and a plethora of study notes supplement theses lectures. Designed to give the students analytical tools to think about business from a broad range of perspectives, lectures and discussion will develop one’s knowledge, critical faculties and practical skills. Core courses immense students in the foundations of modern enterprises and a series of electives (optional papers) allow students to have in-depth understanding of specialized interest, functions and activities inside organizations.

Tutorials

Tutorials are designed to prepare a student for practical insights and focused coaching on specific topics/concepts. There is a greater degree of personal attention to each student who is assigned to a slew of individual and group assignments. A student regularly receives feedback on his/her academic progress in general and ‘specific issue’ progress in particular. The core of the tutorials is the learning approach to problem solving.

Seminars/ Presentations

There is a focus on small group of students for improving their verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Groups led by trainers hold in depth discussion on how to give presentation. The presentation could be, for example, on an exercise or case which students worked on, an essay that an individual student had presented.
Students are supposed to devote a major portion of their time to intensive analytical study and discussion or real life business situations set forth in selective case studies. The students are encouraged to consider competing viewpoints to promote creative discovery.

Guest Lectures

Guest lectures by eminent personalities. In business and social sectors are conducted on a regular basis to provide students with valuable insight into contemporary business and industrial perspectives and the current socio economic , politico-legal and technical environment.
